A friend of mine introduced me to the place some time back and it has since been the favorite place to go if I’m craving for some fresh Salmon Sashimi. It’s not a Japanese Restauran but just a quint little shop that sells fresh seafood at affordable price, every day of the week except Monday. It’s located in OUG near the Wet Market so you should also expect crazy traffic in the area as cars fights for space.


Top Catch Fisheries (一頂魚屋) is pretty popular these days with people coming from all corners of the Klang Valley, with a Restaurant beside it, you can easily find a place to sit among the restaurant folks, order drinks from them and then eat the selection of seafood available from Top Catch. What I normally do is head there an hour ahead of my friends to eat at the restaurant and allow my stomach enough time to rest before attacking the Salmon.



As I’m quite a picky eater when it comes to Japanese dishes, whenever the craving for some Salmon sashimi kicks in, it hurts my wallet a lot each time I go for a meal. But I would say since I discovered this place, that hasn’t been an issue anymore. And I must say, from the 1st time I ate there til today, their knife work has improved a lot. The consistency in sizes are getting better and better. I remember the initial couple of times I go there with my friends, we would fight for the bigger pieces first before finishing the rest.


If you know what you want to buy, do give them a call first before heading there so they can prepare in advance for you. Quit a number of friends complains to me that whenever they go there after seeing my photos on Instagram or Facebook, they get disappointed cause the shop would have ran out of seafood by then.


Even though they officially opens from 7.30am to 1pm, it’s first come first served and their seafood selection runs out pretty fast each day. Price wise, it’s really really reasonable, based on the usual amount that we eat each time we are there. It’ll cost us a bomb in a Japanese Restaurant, but with the same amount we pay in a Japanese restaurant, I could go for a few rounds at this place.
